Create fortune tellers to print and fold
on your iPhone or iPad

What is SnapDragon?

SnapDragon is a special editor for making the classic paper folding toy that goes by many names — fortune teller, cootie catcher, chatterbox, whirlybird, salt cellar, pepper pot, piquet, flip-flapper, qua-qua, flexion and more!

SnapDragon app
iPhone & iPad

SnapDragon makes fortune tellers to print, trim and fold. Exclusive feature makes it easy to add photos to fortune teller panels!

Add photos — place, size and crop

Add text to — choose fonts and colors

SnapDragon keeps it all organized as you create!

Make unique Fortune Tellers with SnapDragon. For example use your favorite pictures to create a photo album story teller, party favors, invitations or ???

  • Add images to any panel and create an origami that tells a story!

  • SnapDragon makes images look good in a folded chatterbox because the app morphs the images ‘just enough’ so they look right when seen on the slanted panels inside a folded paper origami.

Play your Fortune Teller before printing using the Preview feature.

  • Tap Pause (or grab slider!) to stop the animation and take control.

  • Drag to rotate and see from an angle.

  • Pinch-and-zoom to adjust size.

  • Play the short animation to the end and see the unfolded 8”x8” sheet.

How do you actually make a fortune teller?

  1. Create each panel.

  2. Print the PDF.
Image is 8”x8” so it prints nicely on 8 ½”x11 or A4 paper.

  3. Trim & fold into an origami fortune teller!

You can even share your creation with a friend —

  • As a PDF and they can print it themselves.

  • With the SnapDragon app as a file and they can open and edit to make their own version.

SnapDragon’s Q&A editor - another option for creating a fortune teller

The Q&A editor is a great option when you want an easy way to keep panels of questions and responses together — for example for invitation details, joke books, or any planned messages… or creating fun learning drills!

NOTE OF SPECIAL INTEREST TO TEACHERS AND EDUCATORS:

This feature was inspired by a request from a Specials teacher. She was always on the look-out for fun learning tools that would engage her students. However, the demands of teaching meant she needed tools that are quick and easy to use to create fun learning drills. The Q&A editor is just that tool — it makes creating a text-based Fortune Teller quick and easy.

The Q&A editor layout is unique because questions and answers are added as matched pairs rather than on individual panels. This makes it very, very easy to add this special content. The overview shows how each Q&A pair is placed on the inside panels as you work.

A complete text-based fortune teller can be completed in this editor because it includes the icons to open Preview and the PDF to print.

Maybe you want to add images on some panels? No problem. Tap ‘Back’ to open in the full editor to see all your text as you placed it and continue editing!
