Quilt Size Overview

Sometimes getting the finished size of a quilt close to the idea size is good enough. Yet, there are times when you need a project to finish up at the designed size. And if you are entering a project into a contest it needs to be exactly right.

Quilt Size uses the combination of blocks + sashing + borders to create a setting diagram that shows how closely it fits into the designed, target finished size —

  • For the designed, target size enter mattress, drops and pillow tuck dimensions.

  • For the actual quilt top size, block, sashing, and borders size.

1.Tap ‘+’ to start a new project

Tap '+' in the upper left.

Enter project name and setting options or skip to add later.

Tap 'Add'.

Tap anywhere to open menus to edit setting.

2. Enter the the desired, target quilt size and block size

Tap to open menus.

Start by entering the size of the ideal, target size for the quilt — mattress + drops + pillow tuck.

Next, step through the side menus to enter the block size and, if part of the design, add sashing and borders.

The diagram instantly updates with the target size as a dotted line. Inside the dotted line is the setting showing the maximum number of blocks that will fit.

Tap the ‘Mattress’ button in the upper right to display a grey outline of the mattress.

3. If the fit is not right, play with the dimensions until it is!

Make adjustments if you want the finished quilt top closer to (or even match!) the target size.

Where to start depends on the project. The least dramatic might be to change the length of the drops and pillow tuck. Of course, changing width of the sashing and/or borders or even the block size might be the way to go!

Open a quick summary is by tapping the ‘i’ in the upper right. The summary is ‘sticky’ and stays displayed until the ‘i’ is tapped again.

4. Share and Save the one-page project PDF summary
